Proof, were it needed, that the fridge scene from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is not as ridiculous as the hate brigade would have you believe.

As Reel Physics shows in a neat 11 minute video, the scene is outlandish, but not beyond the realms of possibility, with only Indy’s relatively unscathed emergence from the stricken fridge stretching credibility.

This - and it’s vital to note this - makes it no more ridiculous than Indy’s descent from the crashing plane via rubber raft in Temple of Doom. Nostalgia, however, seems to have rendered that moment of delightful silliness unimpeachable.

I’m fairly confident this is Drew Struzan, but can’t be absolutely sure.

Vulture have ranked all of Spielberg’s 28 films and declared Raiders of the Lost Ark the best. E.T., Schindler’s List, Jaws and Saving Private Ryan complete the top five, while poor old Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull brings up the rear.
It’s a solid list, though a little safe and predictable. Kingdom’s placement seems pandering - it’s certainly no worse than Hook, Always or 1941 - and I would have liked to see bolder placements for his ‘difficult’ films like Empire of the Sun and Amistad.
My personal top ten changes all the time, but at the moment it reads as below. What are your favourite Spielberg films?
1. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)2. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)3. Empire of the Sun (1987)4. Catch Me If You Can (2003)5. Jaws (1975)6. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)7. Saving Private Ryan (1998)8. Jurassic Park (1993)9. A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)10. War of the Worlds (2005)
