Spielberg and no less than Barack Obama were on hand to wish John Williams a Happy 80th Birthday at the recent celebration event in the States and excerpts from their speeches can be heard in the video above.
Here’s what Spielberg had to say:
“John Williams is the common language through which people of all ages communicate and remember to each other why they love the movies. And I am probably the only person who can boast that I have collaborated with John Williams for exactly half of his life.

This nation’s greatest composer and our national treasure is also one of the greatest friends I’ve ever had in my entire life. So Jonny - happy 80th. I love you!”
